There is no getting away from it. Change is all around us. Every day we have to make choices and decisions and it's a constant reminder of how fast the world is changing.

Think about the last time you ordered a cup of coffee. You can't just have black or white any more - there's mocha, latte, cappuccino and more to choose from. We're bombarded by decisions every day - which broadband supplier to choose, which mobile phone tariff, which gas supplier - all things we didn't even worry about ten years ago.

At the same time some things we were once certain of are no longer guaranteed. The 'job for life' is a thing of the past. How can we plan a career when we don't even know that the kind of work we want will exist in ten, five or even one years time?

The world, jobs market and technology are all changing so fast that unless we continually look for new opportunities and retrain, we cannot hope to keep up.
